Data Engineer’s Oath

Big Data gathers, and now my streaming begins. It shall not end until the process dies. I shall not ETL in batch, delete no data, create no highly coupled systems. I shall wear no crowns and win no glory. I shall automate and be highly available at my processing. I am the engineer in the darkness. I am the Data Engineer on the cluster. I am the fire that burns against cold, the light that brings the dawn, the horn that wakes the sleepers, the shield that guards the realms of data. I pledge my time and honor to the Night’s Watch, for this night and all the nights to come.
